Description:
Advocacy Manager will lead application advocacy project initiatives for the
business unit as well as key issue management matters, such as BPA,
polycarbonate (PC) applications and non-phosgene technology. The successful
candidate will determine advocacy opportunities in line with global advocacy
strategy and priorities for polycarbonate material, advocacy roadmaps and new
market opportunities in NAFTA.
Major Responsibilities:
•Lead application advocacy initiatives to support growth in strategic
segments/applications leveraging cross-functional industry teams
•Oversee regional BPA advocacy issue management team and chair team meetings
for Covestro’s NAFTA region Polycarbonates Business unit related to BPA topics,
in conjunction with corporate expert functions
•Direct and advise business functions and management-level on NAFTA specific
monitoring for PCS specific regulatory issues
•Lead Industry Association Management processes and enable the Polycarbonates Business
Unit’s group of external advocates with appropriate training
•Ensure close internal coordination on strategic priorities, enablers and
externally communicated positions within the PCS business unit globally,
cross-BU as well as with corporate functions to maximize coherence and
synergies
•Manage advocacy related local, regional and global projects (e.g. PC BPA
Advocacy Communication) to conceptualize new topics, develop new capabilities
or establish new processes.
Minimum Requirements:
•Advocacy or communication experience in chemical industry, including working
with or inside of industry associations with at least 10 years of experience
•Experience with and knowledge of chemical/industry regulations in the United
States, with at least one of the following areas: medical device, electronics
or automotive.
Preferred Requirements:
•Polymer/polycarbonate application/marketing experience and understanding
•Experience in public/governmental relations and communication
•Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in chemistry, material science, chemical
engineering or technical discipline.

Candidate Must Have:
