PCT Automation MES Analyst

Position Description Summary (Position purpose, Geographical scope)
The PCT Automation MES Analyst will be primarily responsible for standardization of the configuration, administration and lifecycle planning for the PCT production systems.

Activities include, but are not limited to, developing and maintaining the following standard DeltaV library for Baytown, Alarm Management, Process Control implementation best practices. The Automation MES Analyst will assist in the development of less experienced engineers and PCT specialists, as well as, provide a point of contact for Global PCT and external automation vendors.

Major tasks and responsibilities of position

The PCT Automation MES Analyst is accoun for the following areas:

Identify, develop and implement systems optimization opportunities within the PCT and MES layers for PCT systems(including interface with IT) and take a support role in coordinating PCT systems improvements
Support the Cybersecurity practices and ensures compliance with Corporate standards.
Management of Front and Back Area Firewall Rules
Manage MES operating system patching and antivirus
Support strategic and capital projects involving PCT systems
Work closely together with Production, IT and PCT engineers to optimize system architecture and applications
Provide local technical support as needed for all MES and PCT systems and networks
Aide the development of the PCT Specialists role and mentor less experienced PCT engineers.
Executes backups of OT Systems (MES, DCS,PLC)
Systems include DeltaV, HIMA, PI Data Historian, Rockwell PLCs, and Alarm Management and Controller Performance tools

The PCT Automation MES Analyst is a leader of reliable and efficient PCT systems, oversees improvement projects and ensures that best work practices and proper state-of-the-art technologies are reviewed and considered for the Baytown site. He/she has many external contacts for technical advances and new developments in systems, programming and network architecture. The PCT Automation MES Analyst is sought for counsel with local Business Units.

The PCT Automation MES Analyst needs to meet the high expectations towards PCT systems as to significantly improve the profitability of   processes by increasing safety, reliability and efficiency. He/she will closely cooperate with Production, PCT, and IT to identify improvement potential, prepare and justify projects, and lead and oversee approved improvement projects. The PCT Automation MES Analyst must have experience in a wide-range of disciplines in order to properly manage and merge heterogeneous technologies to meet business objectives in the most efficient method available. These disciplines include control system field operations, control optimization, MES applications, and OT networks. The PCT Automation MES Analyst must be able to manage all types of systems, which requires supporting many different operating systems and applications. The PCT Automation MES Analyst should play a key role in the launch of best practices in the realm of APC, automation, alarm management, and controller performance management.

Work relations

The primary internal customers include local asset managers and their respective organizations (PCT Asset Engineers).

External Customers/Partners include the 3rd Party Automation providers (Emerson, HIMA, Rockwell, etc).

Qualifications

Bachelor’s in Chemical or Electrical Engineering or related degree with 5+ years’ experience
Industrial Control System evaluation, design, and implementation experience
Emerson Control Systems (DeltaV and Provox), Emerson AMS
OSIsoft PI Historian, Honeywell Alarm Manager and Honeywell Control Performance Monitor, MES and its applications.
Cybersecurity practices and OT network management
Automation implementation best practices.
Project management experience a plus
Strong analytical and problem solving skills

Additional Job Description
• Bachelor or Master degree in ICA- (Instrumentation, Control, Automation) Engineering or related fields

• Thorough understanding of PCS concepts / practices and good ,understanding of maintenance and project management i

• Good knowledge of Engineering tools and software - SAP, Meridium
